Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College concludes its 2007-08 Theater Series with Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical, Evita, on Sunday, April 6 at 3pm.

Evita tells the story of Eva Peron, the charismatic, ambitious and often larger-than life wife of Argentine dictator Juan Peron. Overcoming her humble beginnings as an aspiring actress, she became the First Lady of Argentina and a saint in the eyes of her people. Winner of seven Tony® Awards including Best Musical, this pop opera includes the songs "Don't Cry For Me Argentina," "Oh What A Circus," "High Flying Adored," and "Another Suitcase in Another Hall."

Beginning its life as a concept album in 1976, Evita first opened in London's West End in 1978. It opened at the Broadway Theatre on September 25, 1979, starring Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin. The Broadway production won Tonys for Best Musical, Score, Book, Lighting Design and Director, as well acting awards for both Ms. LuPone and Mr. Patinkin. Both the London and New York productions incorporated the staging of Tony® Award-winning producer/director Harold Prince. The Broadway cast album won a Grammy in 1981.

Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice collaborations also include Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Andrew Lloyd Webber's credits with other lyricists include By Jeeves, Song & Dance, Cats, Starlight Express, The Phantom of the Opera, Aspects of Love, Sunset Boulevard, and Whistle Down the Wind. Separate from Webber, Tim Rice has written lyrics for Chess, King David, and The Lion King, as well as numerous films. Both Webber and Rice have been honored with multiple Tony, Drama Desk, and Olivier Awards.
